Why do some people get paid more for some jobs, and less for others?

This is a question that some people know, and others don't. Jobs are something that everyone needs. Even if you dont want a job, you'll need a way to get money eventually. For simpler jobs like cashier, bus driver and janitor, the pay is less. But with other jobs like police officer, fire fighter and construcion worker, jobs that are more stressful or dangerous, you get paid more. Sometimes if your very good at something, even the best in the world, you may not make a lot of money if it is a low paying job. Even if your very nice or mean, the pay will probably not change.

When a waiter spills a drink on you, thats a bit annoying but it happens. But with jobs like police officer, you cant make mistakes, and people expect you to be good at it all the time. As a waiter, of course your going to spill a drink or give someone the wrong order atleast once. But, if you have a slip up as a police officer, it may have a much, much worse outcome. Thats why those kind of jobs pay more than jobs like waiters and cashiers.

Well, that leaves one more question. What job is the best job? Well, there is no answer. Do what you want! If you want to be a game developer, be one. If you want to be an astronaut, chase your dreams and be one! What job do you want, or are currently chasing to be. Leave a comment with feedback, suggestions or your dream job thank you for reading, goodbye.

  1. Kia Ora Kristian,
Good reading of the text and use of your own examples to make your points about pay and the number of people that can do a particular job. The jobs you mention would all be exciting, I think.
